If you’re struggling to vacuum your home regularly I can help you find the best time-saving vacuum cleaners to keep on top of a dirty home. A regular cleaning schedule mostly depends on the type of vacuum cleaner you choose to buy. There are some handy solutions out there even if you own a pet/s or have kids running around.
Most of us have crazy busy lives and it’s often difficult to sort out our homes. Our biggest gripe is dirty floors. It doesn’t take much for the kids to bring dirt into the house or for pets to shed their hair everywhere.
After a busy day, the last thing I want to do is take out the vacuum cleaner, I’ve got just about enough energy to cook the evening meal! Thankfully there are two great solutions to help with vacuuming. Our recommendations will ensure that your carpets and floors are constantly cleaned. For this scenario, you can either choose complete automation or choose a vacuum cleaner that is incredibly quick to use.
Automated Vacuum Cleaning
This is the age of robot vacuum cleaners. I started seeing these little machines popping up several years ago but up until recently, their features were limited. Manufacturers have improved robot vacuum technology to include ultra-convenient features such as automated scheduling and automatic self-charging.
If you want to save yourself a heap of time I’d highly recommend that you buy a robot vacuum cleaner so that you have one less thing to worry about. Why do I rate robot cleaners so highly? Because they pack a lot of suction power inside a compact body and require little help to get on with the job.
Not all robot vacuums are created equally. Avoid cheap brands that are more trouble than they’re worth.
One of biggest issue that customers complain about is poor quality batteries on inferior models. I would recommend buying your robot from brands like Eufy, Neato, iLife, Ecovacs and obviously Dyson (if you can afford it).
What can you expect from a good robotic vacuum cleaner? Great convenience and time-saving are at the forefront of robot cleaners. Most robots are supplied with a remote control to schedule a cleaning routine that works best for you.
Some have additional functionality to be controlled via a smartphone app. You can check the status of the robot, remaining battery time or turn it on manually to perform an ad-hoc clean.
Emptying the dirt bin takes a few seconds but it’s a small price to pay for the amount of time you reclaim. Personally for me, the Neato D80 is a firm favourite. The Neato robot eliminates pet hair better than some larger vacuums.
Clever route guidance enables it to navigate in a logical pattern and stick to the most efficient route. D80 is built with convenience at its core and is easy to set up.
Please note that robot vacuums cannot travel up and down stairs or clean high reaching areas. For this, you’ll need a secondary vacuum. Don’t worry, I’ve got a good solution for this below. Keep reading…
Super Quick Vacuum Cleaning
If you’re not sold on a robot vacuum cleaner, the next best solution is a cordless stick vacuum.
I must confess that from the onset, I wasn’t convinced that a cordless cleaner could clean as effectively as my full-sized upright vacuum but it wasn’t long before I changed my mind.
Choose your stick vacuum wisely and you’ll enjoy the benefits of faster vacuuming when compared to a bulkier appliance.
At the moment, Dyson is at the forefront of cordless stick technology. Why? They’ve designed a tiny powerful digital motor that spins faster than a formula 1 engine and managed to fit it into a stick vacuum cleaner that weighs a minuscule 2.3 kgs (5.07 pounds).
Stick vacuums are lightweight and portable and this makes all the difference for anyone wanting to vacuum quickly.
The secret is to store your stick in high traffic rooms such as the kitchen or the living room where you have immediate access to it. Most come with a mountable wall bracket.
What happens is that you’ll get into a routine of cleaning little and often. I can usually clean a whole room in the time that it takes me to take out my full sized vacuum and plug it in.
Dyson has a great range of cordless stick vacuums including the V6, V7 and V8. Each model has specific variants to meet the needs of demanding households including homes with pets, cleaning car interiors, vacuuming hard to reach areas, and also a mattress vacuum that gets rid of bed bugs.
Another great feature found on Dyson stick cleaners is a turbo boost button that cranks up the suction when extra power is needed for stubborn dirt like dried up mud or dirt deep-seated into your carpets.
The Dyson ball has been fitted into the cleaner head and it’s impressive to see how much time you save with the pinpoint steering. You can zip around and underneath furniture in minimal time no matter which Dyson model you decide to buy.
Typically I can vacuum the whole house in 10-15 mins compared to my upright vacuum that takes twice as long. I live in a busy 3 bedroom home with 2 flights of stairs, kids, a lazy husband and a dog.
If you’ve read my previous posts you’ll notice that I’m a huge Dyson fan and that’s because I stand behind high-quality products that work and make my life easier. I don’t see the point of buying a cheap appliance that doesn’t clean too well and has a higher chance of breaking down. Pay a little extra and save money in the long term.
Conclusion
It’s easy to fall behind with vacuuming when considering our busy lifestyles. Make a smart choice and buy a robot vacuum cleaner or a cordless stick vacuum and they’ll always be time for your floors to be cleaned regularly.

Who Makes The Best Vacuum Cleaner? This is the most common question that I get asked by prospective customers looking to buy the ultimate vacuum cleaner. Before we select the best brands we need to first look at what type of vacuum cleaner is best for your home. Here are a few questions you need to ask yourself:
Do you require a cordless or a corded vacuum cleaner?
Do you need a stick, upright, canister or handheld vacuum cleaner?
Do you want a vacuum that is lightweight and quieter to operate?
How much are you willing to spend on your new vacuum cleaner?
Vacuum Cleaner Budget
Paying more money for a premium vacuum doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get the best features.
After reviewing a countless amount of vacuums I’ve found budget vacuum cleaners that can sometimes outperform their pricier counterparts.
Personally, I like the Dyson brand because when you buy one of their vacuums you’ll notice the difference in performance straight away. You want a vacuum cleaner that is easy to handle, the machine shouldn’t weigh a tonne and of course, it should never lose suction.
Time-Saving Vacuum Cleaners
If you struggle to find the time to vacuum clean regularly I would highly recommend a robot vacuum that can be programmed to clean whilst you’re out and about. Here is a list of the Best Robot cleaners that we’ve tested and found to be just as effective as doing the job yourself.
If you can’t decide whether to buy canister or upright vacuum cleaner, why not choose a 2-in-1 cleaner that combines the power of an upright with the portability of a canister cleaner. For this, I’d highly recommend the Shark brand.
The Shark Navigator Lift-Away is a good example of great functionality and convenience fitted into a single machine.
If you are looking a low priced 2-in-1 vacuum with identical performance as an expensive premium then Shark Navigator Lift Away Pro NV356E is suited for the job. The transformation between upright and canister mode lets you make light work of cleaning stairs, carpets, hard flooring and hard-to-reach areas.
Cordless Suction Power
I’ll be honest that when I first heard about battery-powered vacuum cleaners I wasn’t convinced that they could produce enough suction power to lift dust, carpet fluff and stubborn dirt.
After testing several brands I recommend staying away from cheap cordless cleaners and pay a little extra for a Dyson V6 handheld vacuum. Why? Because the V6 is very powerful and not as expensive as the Dyson V8 but delivers similar performance albeit a slightly shorter battery life.
I found myself using the Dyson V6 more than my full sized vacuum and achieving similar cleaning results. You can mount the V6 stick vacuum on a nearby wall in the most frequented room and you’ve got immediate access to a powerful vacuum.
The wall bracket ensures that the battery is always fully charged and ready. Its great to see it at work considering how small and light it is.
Cordless Upright Vacuum Cleaner
If you’d prefer an upright vacuum cleaner but hate power cables getting in the way, the Bissell AirRam is a unique cordless upright that weighs just 3.5 kgs. It’s classed as a full-sized vacuum cleaner but it doesn’t come with the bulk of one.
Bissell AirRam runs for 40 minutes on a single charge, which is more than enough time to vacuum the entire house without worrying about the battery running out halfway through cleaning.
The machine is bagless and is fitted with a special bin that compresses the dirt to avoid clouds of dust escaping back into the air. Simply slide the ejector arm in one single motion to empty the bin. I like the LED lights fitted on the front of the cleaner head to help see dirt hidden in dark areas.
Portable Canister Vacuum Cleaners
Canister vacuum cleaners are a popular choice for those looking for a compact machine that is easy to store but shares the equivalent power of an upright vacuum. The Dyson DC39 Animal is a remarkable compact vacuum that delivers 257 AW of suction power.
At its base, the DC39 animal, swivels on top of the Dyson ball for the best manoeuvrability. The machine is certified Asthma and Allergy Friendly and is fitted with washable lifetime filters.
What stands out the most is the set of accessories provided- the turbine head works on most floor types including thick carpets and hard floors, the combination tool and stair tool ensure that every part of your home is accessible. DC39 Animal is compact, stylish and provides a comprehensive cleaning solution for large homes and small apartments.
Best Corded Upright Vacuum Cleaner
I recently reviewed the Dyson DC65 Upright cleaner and was so impressed by the machine’s performance that I bought one for my parents.
Dyson has balanced the weight of the machine and the Dyson ball to give the best handling that I’ve ever experienced on a full-sized upright.
If you’re worried that stairs and high reaching areas are hard to clean with an upright cleaner, the DC65 features a detachable extendable hose specifically for tight gaps, ceilings and stairways.
It lifts double the amount of dirt than its closest rival and purifies the air with its HEPA filters as the air travels through the machine. Dyson gave us bagless technology and Root Cyclone Power- if you’re expecting to use the best, DC65 will not disappoint.
Conclusion
We’ve covered a lot and I’m confident that you’ve found a vacuum cleaner to suit your lifestyle and home. Choosing a vacuum cleaner can be tricky business, it’s much easier to first decide on the type of machine suited for your home, to decide who makes the best vacuum cleaner.
Are you thinking of buying a vacuum from the above list or do you already own one? Please could you leave your comments in the section below. I’d love to hear from you.

What is the best vacuum cleaner for stairs? My least favourite task is cleaning the stairs. Thankfully, with the correct vacuum I can get the job done quicker and avoid straining my back or arms. It goes without saying that upright vacuum cleaners are not practical for cleaning stairs unless it comes with an extension hose and compatible attachments.
I would highly recommend a lightweight cordless handheld vacuum for stairs. I like the freedom of a cordless vacuum to avoid tangling wires and looking for the nearest plug socket, but if you prefer a corded machine there’s a good selection on the market. I’ve split the review into 2 sections i.e. cordless and corded.
What is The Best Cordless Vacuum Cleaner For Stairs?
I’ll start off with my top ranking cordless vacuum cleaner for stairs. I’ve picked the Dyson V6 Animal because it strikes a good balance for remarkable cleaning power, adequate battery life and convenient accessories. Dyson V6 has also recently been reduced in price and is considerably cheaper than its big brother Dyson V8.
I’ve tested other brands but I’m yet to find one that rivals the cordless suction power of Dyson handhelds. There’s a noticeable difference when you see how much dust, carpet fluff and animal hair is collected by the Dyson V6 compared to alternative brands.
The battery running time is 20 minutes but I can usually get 2 flights of stairs cleaned in 5 minutes and have enough charge left to clean other areas. The most impressive feature is the max mode which cranks up the suction force for 6 minutes- I accidentally split some candle wax on the carpet and was able to suck it up the dried wax using the mini motorised head on max mode.
How did Dyson manage to get all that power in such a small machine? The Dyson V6 is driven by a special small digital motor that spins at up to 110,000 rpm to generate incredible suction. You will also benefit from the cyclonic power. The vacuum is fitted with 15 cyclones that generate powerful force to catch dirt and debris.
Bear in mind that the Dyson V6 weighs a meagre 2.3 kgs but often cleans better than some of the full-sized vacuum cleaners that I’ve used.
You are supplied with a mini motorised head, crevice tool and combination tool. I’ve found that that mini motorised head is the best attachment to use for stairs because it’s fitted with stiff bristles to agitate the carpet and lift up stubborn dirt. The tool has a good width for awkward angles i.e. not too wide or narrow.
The dirt bin should be emptied regularly but this is made easy using the one-click emptying button that will open the bin lid at the bottom of the machine to dispose dirt straight into your bin.
The advantages of spending a little extra to buy a Dyson V6 Animal is that you are guaranteed many years of reliable performance.
Dysons are built to last, are supplied with strong attachments, lifetime filters and Dyson machines don’t break easily. Additionally, the suction power means that you spend less time cleaning because it saves you from going over the same areas.
If you are debating which cordless vacuum cleaner to use for your stairs you won’t find a better machine for the money.
What is the Best Corded Vacuum Cleaner For Stairs?
If you’d prefer a corded handheld vacuum fear not. The Shark Rocket Corded Hand Vac (HV292) is a powerful handheld that cleans stairs fantastically owing to the strong suction.
If you’re searching for a corded machine to tackle stairs quickly and effectively you won’t find a better vacuum.
The Shark Rocket HV292 has a robust body and cleverly designed handle for easier control. The dirt container is simple to empty, the filters are washable and located in their own easily accessible compartments. Similar to the Dyson V6 the dirt bin features a simple dirt emptying mechanism that disposes mess within seconds.
The vacuum can clean up animal hairs with minimal effort and plenty of pet owners favour this vacuum for its brilliant performance at getting their carpeted stairs free from pet hair. You are supplied with a good set of attachments for other tasks as well. There’s a flexible extension hose that adds extra convenience when trying to reach small spaces.
Additionally, the Shark vacuum comes with a 12” crevice tool, dusting brush and TruePet Motorized Brush. The Rocket HV292 is especially handy if you want to benefit from speedy cleaning up of stairs and other areas of your home.
The extra-long cable avoids the need of constantly changing plug sockets although there’s nowhere to wrap the cord on the machine when not in use. The absence of cord storage is a minor niggle that shouldn’t deter you from buying this great handheld vacuum.
I like that the Shark rocket is bagless to save money on the cost of bag replacement. It’s also lighter than it looks and the strong suction is impressive for a vacuum this size. The washable filter should be cleaned monthly to keep the vacuum running at its best. Filter washing should take no longer than 5 minutes and Shark has designed the machine to provide stress-free access to them.
The motorized pet brush works well on stairs but not as good as the mini motorised head that comes with the Dyson V6.
This is because the Shark motorized brush is wider and larger thus making it slightly rigid when working its way through the stairs. I wouldn’t let this detract from the vacuum’s performance. The tool is more than sufficient when compared to similar motorized brushes except for Dyson.
The Shark Rocket HV292 ranks high for anyone looking to buy a low-cost corded vacuum cleaner to use on stairs and any other areas that are difficult to clean with bigger machines.
The Shark hand vacuum delivers 400 Watts of power and is suitable for multiple surfaces. The cable length is 4.57 meters and the machine weighs just 1.67 kgs.
What is the best vacuum cleaner for stairs? The above shortlist should make it easy to choose one that suits your requirements. You just have to decide if you prefer a corded or cordless vacuum. That concludes my summary of the leading vacuums for your stairs.
Are you thinking of buying a convenient vacuum cleaner from the above list? I’d like to hear your opinions, please leave your comments in the section below.

Are you looking for cheap low-cost cordless handheld vacuum cleaners? Black + Decker CHV1410L is a highly popular hand vac that provides great cleaning performance at a fraction of the cost of premium machines such as the Dyson V8 Absolute. What type of features does this Black + Decker vacuum provide at a low price point? Is it worth buying? I’ll answer these questions in my review and help you to decide if this is the right cordless vacuum for you.
Here is a quick summary of the features housed within the Black + Decker CHV1410L:
The body is built from durable materials yet remains lightweight.
New smart charging technology requires only half the energy to charge the cordless vacuum.
Cyclone power is included as standard. It simultaneously delivers powerful suction whilst cleaning the filter.
The vacuum is equipped with a Lithium Ion battery life that keeps the vacuum running for longer.
A thin rotating multipurpose nozzle is supplied to help tackle various cleaning chores and reach tight spaces with ease.
The transparent bagless dirt bin makes it easy to see when the bin is full.
The filters and dirt bin are easy to detach and are washable.
Air Watts: 15.2 Watts, Voltage: 16V MAX.
Black + Decker provide a 2 year limited warranty for the CHV1410L.
What is the Black + Decker CHV1410L Good at?
Perfect for fast cleanups
A big reason why we have an aversion to vacuum cleaning is that we are put off by the idea of unpacking our cumbersome vacuum cleaner from the storage area, untangling wires and carrying it to wherever it needs to go. The portable CHV1410L eliminates all of this.
It can be kept close and is always ready. Once charged it can hold the charge for a 1 year 6 months. It’s quick to clear up bread crumbs, cereals, dust and dirt hidden in hard to reach areas. Why do you need to take out your full-sized vacuum cleaner for small tasks when you can buy the Black + Decker cordless vacuum cleaner?
Black + Decker Smart Charging
The CHV1410L is equipped with a power saving Lithium-ion charger that does not overcharge the battery unnecessarily, it automatically turns off when it detects that the battery is fully charged.
This does two things: prolongs the life of the battery and saves you money on your fuel bills when the charger turns off. You can store the Black + Decker cordless vacuum on the charger without worrying about excess battery charging, whilst saving energy and ensuring that the vacuum is always ready to clean.
High-grade lithiumBattery
It’s good to see that Black + Decker have fitted the CHV1410L with lithium technology which maintains strong suction power and lasts for longer periods. Alternative batteries are inferior and degrade quicker over time, this makes it challenging to effectively clean your home before the machine loses power.
Lithium Ion batteries are designed to cope with the power demands of cordless vacuum cleaners. You can clean with the assurance that suction power will stay at its strongest without the hand vacuum losing power rapidly.
Black + Decker Cyclone Power
Nowadays cyclone suction is a must have. The force of the cyclones keeps dirt and dust from blocking the filter. The CHV1410L cordless vacuum delivers consistently powerful suction to make light work of clearing up dust, dirt and food around the home.
Great Design
Cordless vacuums vary in performance, design and weight. A bad design or heavy hand vacuum will be a hassle to use in the long run i.e. it might start straining your wrist after prolonged usage. Thankfully the Black + Decker CHV1410L vacuum has a lightweight design that is adapted to clean a variety of surfaces including tiled floors, laminate flooring, carpets, rugs, sofas and a lot more.
Multi-purpose Cleaning Accessories
The rotating cleaning nozzle has been designed to reach crevices and small areas better than the older Black + Decker hand vacuums. The integrated crevice tool is a godsend when attempting to reach into small gaps.
A wide mouth inlet sucks up larger dirt and mess. The brush is easy to flip up when required to clean sofa and drapes, plus the crevice tool can be stretched to reach further into tight gaps.
The charging station provides fast charging to the cordless vacuum and doubles up as smart storage for cleaning attachments.
Maintain your Black + Decker Cordless Vacuum Easily
A transparent dirt bin has the advantage of seeing when it’s full and needs emptying. As mentioned earlier, the dirt bin is washable. A quick rinse and the bin is as good as new. The filters should be washed regularly so that the black + decker cordless vacuum continues to deliver a high performance clean. For a deep clean, detach the whole bowl from the machine and clean it in the sink.
What’s included with the Black + Decker cordless vacuum
The Black + Decker hand vacuum comes with the following accessories:
Hand Vacuum
Charging Station
On Board Brush
Washable pre-filter
On-Board Crevice Tool
Washable filter – VF110
Black + Decker CHV1410L or CHV1510? Which hand vacuum is better?
I’ve been asked what’s the difference between the Black + Decker CHV1410L and the CHV1510? Which out of these 2 hand vacuums should you buy?
Personally, I would choose the Black + Decker CHV1410L over the CHV1510 because the high-grade lithium-ion battery is light years better than the NiCad battery found on the CHV1510.
The problem with NiCad batteries is that you can’t charge them for long periods because the battery gets damaged over time. Additionally, NiCad batteries run out of power much quicker.
Performance wise, the Black + Decker CHV1410L and CHV1510 are similar but the lithium-ion battery found on the CHV1410L means that it will run for longer, save energy during charging times, holds its charge longer and won’t lose power as quick as the CHV1510. In my opinion, the Black + Decker CHV1410L is a better buy.
Pros:
Durable cordless vacuum constructed from high-quality material.
We like that cyclonic suction is included at a low price point.
Filter and dirt bin are washable for easy and quick cleaning.
High-quality lithium-ion battery for quicker charging and longer running times.
Cons:
As with most hand vacuums, the dirt bin is on the smallish side.
The Black + Decker CHV1410L is a popular cordless vacuum with thousands of positive reviews from satisfied owners.
The machine scores a remarkable 8.4/10
Conclusion: Black + Decker CHV1410L 16 volt Lithium Cordless Dust Buster Hand Vacuum Cleaner
Should you buy the Black + Decker CHV1410L? If you are looking for cheap low-cost cordless handheld vacuum cleaners and don’t have the budget to purchase a premium cordless vacuum such as the Dyson V8 Absolute I would highly recommend the Black + Decker hand vac.
It’s perfect for small cleanups that don’t warrant a full sized vacuum cleaner. You can pick up mess and dust instantly to stop it from accumulating plus it’s great for cleaning your car interior.
If you’re considering buying the Black + Decker CHV1410L or already own one please leave your comments in the section below. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for reading.

What is the best cordless handheld vacuum cleaner with strongest suction?
With so many choose from how do you decide what is the best cordless handheld vacuum cleaner to buy? Dyson is arguably one of the best manufacturers of vacuum cleaners. After all, they gave us bagless vacuums and root cyclones.
The Dyson V8 Absolute is their flagship handheld vacuum and it claims to run for 40 minutes on a single charge (when not using the motorised floor tool). Dyson has included a few new features for better handling and hygienic dirt disposal.
In this review I’ll be taking the machine apart (hypothetically) and seeing if it’s worth the upgrade and most importantly if it performs as good as the marketing suggests. Scroll down for the full Dyson V8 Absolute review.
What is Dyson V8 Absolute?
The Dyson V8 is a top of the range cordless handheld vacuum cleaner which originally went on sale in 2016. The V8 Absolute updates the earlier V6 models by providing stronger suction power and easier handling.
Notable improvements include longer battery operating times, a battery life display, lower machine noise and easier hygienic dirt disposal.
The Dyson V8 Absolute vacuum features “total machine filtration” to catch and trap allergens effectively. It then expels clean air that is free from dust and allergens.
Similar to rival handhelds the V8 Absolute cleaner has a limited bin capacity of 0.6 litres- this is the compromise for portability but the dirt eject button makes disposal a quick and painless process.
Dyson V8 Absolute Accessories
What’s included in the box? Generally, Dyson is generous with accessories. The V8 Absolute is supplied with a mini turbo brush, a motorized turbo combi floor head, a crevice tool and upholstery tool.
The turbo floor tool has been upgraded to deliver an additional 150% extra brush bar power compared to the older V6 Animal handheld.
V8 Absolute weighs 4.1kg and is slightly heavier than the V6 vacuum. The extra weight is hardly noticeable and overall it’s a lightweight vacuum that is easy to handle.
Within the V8 range you will also find the V8 Animal which is more suited for pet owners. The specs for both machines are similar except for the different floor heads supplied. The V8 Animal model does not have the Soft Roller Cleaner Head which is unique to the V8 Absolute.
The trigger switch on the V8 is similar to the one on the Dyson V6 vacuum and needs to be pressed continuously to keep the vacuum running.
The machine’s battery takes approximately 3.5 hours to fully charge. I like that the charging time is much better than other competing cordless vacuums that can take a staggering 17 hours to charge.
Dyson V8 Absolute best features
Dyson has mastered the art of harnessing powerful suction within portable vacuums thanks to their proprietary digital motor which spins incredibly fast. The V8 Absolute is no exception and it makes cleaning the house an effortless task. It’s quick too- in most cases I would have finished cleaning a room in the time that it takes me to take out and assemble my full-sized vacuum cleaner.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve got tiled floors, carpets, rugs, laminate or wooden floors the V8 Absolute can handle all floor types. The spinning brush can be detached easily to remove hairs and other mess.
My home has plenty of stairs that are usually difficult to clean with a bigger vacuum cleaner. The V8 Absolute cleans stairs and upholstery with minimum fuss.
As mentioned earlier, a downside of cordless handheld vacuums is the small dirt bins that require frequent emptying. A handheld vacuum cleaner with a bad design could mean a messy disposal.
The V8 Absolute‘s easy emptying feature is one of the best I’ve used. Getting rid of dirt is quick and only requires pressing a button. The silicone collar within the bin pushes out the dirt and doesn’t require you to manually extract trapped dirt. It’s a well thought out design that keeps things hygienic.
Generally, the battery life on handheld vacuums isn’t long. The Dyson V8 Absolute runs for 33 minutes on the standard setting. It runs for only 8 minutes when ramped up to turbo mode. The run times are better than the V6 models but it’s possible to find alternative cordless vacuums that can run for longer times.
If you have large spaces or plenty of carpets you might need to clean in stages as the V8 might not get everything done all at once. If you don’t mind smaller frequent cleans then the V8 is the perfect cordless handheld vacuum cleaner.
What else should you know about Dyson V8 Absolute?
Dyson has designed the V8 in such a way that the weight is distributed evenly so that the machine doesn’t strain your wrist or hand especially when lifting it to clean higher areas such as ceilings or window ledges.
It’s also great for hard to reach areas in car interiors and underneath furniture. The V8 switches to a handheld vacuum cleaner in a few seconds- just unclip the floor tool and attach the required accessory.
Should you buy the Dyson V8 Absolute?
It’s not the cheapest but it’s hard to beat. If you want the best cordless vacuum cleaner in 2017-2018, the V8 Absolute is the best of the best. Dyson’s digital motor inside the V8 is remarkably powerful plus the ergonomic dirt emptying feature and longer battery times are a welcome addition.
Where to Buy the Dyson V8 Absolute Cordless Cleaner
Even weight distribution and lightweight for easier handling.
Cleans dirt effectively and improves the battery life compared to previous models.
Switching accessories is quick and simple.
Cleans multiple surfaces effectively.
Great for cleaning car interiors.
Cons:
Trigger switch has no lock switch to keep the machine running.

Conclusion
Dyson V8 Absolute is arguably the best cordless handheld vacuum cleaner currently available. It ticks most if not all boxes and is worth the investment. You also get the backing of a strong brand that produces long life vacuum cleaners.
To date, I’ve never had a Dyson vacuum cleaner break down on me- I usually give away my older Dysons when switching to a newer model but never because they’re broken. I expect that the V8 Absolute will follow suit.

If you’re searching for a low-cost handheld cleaner for animal hair, we’ve found the best cordless vacuum for pet hair on a budget and it’s cheaper than a Dyson.
The Hoover Cruise (BH52210PC) looks very similar to the latest Dyson handheld vacuums but does it perform as good considering that it costs half the price?
Most importantly is it the best budget cordless handheld vacuum for pet hair?
Although the Hoover Cruise mimics the Dyson design this shouldn’t be viewed as something bad. This actually works in the customer’s favour because it offers greater choice and increases competition thus driving down the price.
I am a big fan of Dyson vacuums but I’m also aware that they’re not within everyone’s price range. Let’s see if the Hoover Cruise is a suitable alternative.
The Hoover vacuum is a good cordless vacuum for pet hair because it’s versatile to use across the entire house thanks to the great range of tools supplied and the supporting extendable shaft for cleaning floors.
The machine has adopted a proven ergonomic design and it strikes a good balance between function and affordability.
Battery
The Hoover Cruise is small but by no means feeble. It is equipped with a 22-volt lithium ion battery which powers the machine to run for up to 30 minutes, which would place it right in between Dyson’s flagship handhelds i.e. The V6 which runs for 20 minutes and the V8 which runs for 40 minutes.
Weight
One of the distinct advantages of a handheld vacuum is their weight. From the onset you’ll notice that they’re extremely light and make cleaning the house a lot easier, The Hoover Cruise is no exception. It weighs a meagre 4.7 pounds (2.1 Kgs) which makes it one of the lightest handheld vacuums currently available.
Accessories
There’s a good variety of tools provided to combat pet hair. In addition to the main floor cleaner head, you are provided with:
A crevice tool for tight spaces.
A brush tool for dusting shelves, windows ledges and hard surfaces.
An upholstery tool for sofas and drapes.
Cyclone Power
Similar to the Dyson units the Hoover cruise is fitted with Cyclonic separation. This is a good feature to copy and one that all vacuum cleaners should adopt. Cyclone power separates dirt and dust from the air as it passes through the machine. It’s the most efficient way of capturing dust, dirt and expelling cleaner air.
Having used numerous vacuum cleaners with cyclone power I would not do without it. The difference between the Hoover Cruise and Dyson is the lack of cyclones.
A convenient locking mechanism that keeps the trigger held down, to give your fingers some rest when vacuuming for prolonged periods.
The swivel steering is very precise when turning corners or manoeuvring between furniture.
Converting from stick to handheld is flawless and arguably the best feature.
Filters
The Hoover Cruise is fitted with two filters that can both be washed. The primary filter can be found at the center of the dirt bin. This filter is easily accessible by simply removing the bin. There’s also an additional post motor filter that can be found at the rear of the motor.
Dirt Bin
The bin can hold 0.4 litres of dirt which, in my opinion, is a decent sized bin for a machine this size. But more important than the bin size is how easy it is to dispose of dirt. Poorly designed disposal mechanisms are a big no no- there’s no need for them.
The Hoover Cruise has adopted a similar emptying mechanism to the Dyson vacuums where the door is located at the bottom of the bin. Emptying dirt is a doddle, just press a button and voila. The contents is disposed of within seconds.
Pet Hair Cleaning Performance
Did the Hoover Cruise get rid of pet hair easily? The motorised brush works wonders when extracting animal hairs from floors, rugs and carpets.
I vacuumed problematic areas where my dog likes to spend most of its time.
I followed the same cleaning routine as I would with a full-sized vacuum i.e. working through the room with one sweep taking care not to muscle the machine.
I assessed the carpet afterwards and couldn’t find any visible traces of hair left behind. Looking into the canister I could see dust bunnies and plenty of hair diligently collected by the Hoover Cruise. I didn’t need any further convincing. The only improvement that I would recommend would be a mini motorised tool for upholstery.
How Does it Perform on Carpets?
Although it’s not a Dyson the Hoover Cruise comes very close behind.
The cleaning head is equipped with a beater bar that’s great for carpets. It won’t give the same deep clean as you would get from a full-sized canister or upright but it does a good job at sucking up visible dirt.
The Hoover handheld vacuum works best on low pile carpets. I wouldn’t recommend using it on thick carpets or shag rugs.
How Does it Perform on Hard Floors?
The brush roll can be switched on and off to enable use on laminate, wooden and tiled floors. There is no padding underneath, be careful on delicate surfaces to avoid scratches. Dust and pet hairs are vacuumed up effectively and in the least amount of time
Product Rating
The Hoover Cruise has to be the best rated vacuum for pet hair. This is a robust versatile handheld vacuum cleaner that most households with pets can afford. It scores high marks for adopting an already successful design. We like that it can convert from handheld to stick.

Conclusion
Is the Hoover Cruise (BH52210PC) the best low cost cordless vacuum cleaner pet hair? I would agree that it is. You are given the same great features of a Dyson vacuum cleaner for a price under $160. If you’ve always wanted a handheld stick vacuum at your disposal but couldn’t afford one then the Hoover Cruise is a good budget option that doesn’t compromise on cleaning performance.
The extendable wand turns the machine into a versatile vacuum that easily removes pet hairs and dirt from your floors. We also like that the battery lasts longer than the Dyson equivalent. My only gripe is that it lacks padding at the base of the floor tool to protect delicate hard surfaces from scratching, but this is not a major concern if your house is mostly carpeted or tiled.
Overall the Hoover Cruise (BH52210PC) is highly favoured with pet owners and delivers good cleaning across the house. Are you considering getting the Hoover Cruise or do you already own one? Please leave your comments in the section below. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
