I want you to remember that this robot vacuum costs less than most of the machines we’ve tested. Even if this robot cost twice the price I’d be impressed by the cleaning performance. My home is incredibly busy, I’ve got kids constantly running around and a dog that sheds a lot of hair. Dirt and pet hair are difficult to clean at the best of times and my vacuum cleaners often struggle to keep the floors clean.
The DEIK robot excelled with the task of cleaning our home. The suction power was consistent and the machine gradually got to most areas of the house (except the stairs and small gaps).
It also came with a surprise bonus pad that allows the robot to mop hard flooring. As with robots at this price level, I was expecting the robot to run out of battery before making it back to the docking station but this never happened. Whenever it detected a low battery it successfully reached the dock every time.
The robot won’t fully replace the need to use a full-sized vacuum cleaner because it cannot clean stairs and between small gaps (maybe future robots will be able to do this). It will clean about 80% of your home which only leaves a small proportion of areas that need your intervention but this is a small trade-off and a huge time saver.
Suction Performance
My house needs vacuuming on a daily basis otherwise dirt gets out of control. I programmed the DEIK robot to vacuum during the day whilst I was at work. I couldn’t believe how much dirt, dust and hair the machine picked up by the time I got back home from work.
The machine produces 1200Pa of power suction to give a deep clean on carpets, rugs and hard floors. I was worried that the robot wouldn’t cope cleaning stubborn dirt in high traffic areas but it picked up everything including dust bunnies hiding underneath furniture.

In this review, I’ll provide a comparison of the Shark robot to the high-end Roomba vacuum and the midrange ECOVACS robot. From the moment I switched on the Shark ION it was evident that the robot vacuumed to a higher standard than the ECOVACS and it also provided enhancements over the Roomba robot.
Shark ION Navigation
The machine’s low profile allows it to venture underneath couches and furniture without it getting stuck. The height profile is perfect and similar to the Roomba whereas the ECOVACS robot struggles to clean underneath bedframes and kitchen cabinets. If the Shark robot does get stuck somewhere, it can easily set itself free. It also excels at navigating difficult terrains such as thick carpets and rugs.
Shark ION Robot Suction Power
The floors in my home are a mixture of carpet, wooden floors, tiles and rugs. Our household is busy with kids constantly running around and a dog that sheds a lot of hair.
The Shark robot vacuum coped with the high traffic and managed to eliminate pet hairs and dust to the point that I rarely took out my full-sized machine except for cleaning stairs.
I also noticed the pointed edges in the dirt bin that catch hair and minimises it getting tangled around the Brushroll. The Roomba 800 has its own tangle-free system that allows you to pull out hair easily from the rollers but bear in mind that the Roomba costs almost twice as much as the Shark Robot.
Shark Robot Side brushes
The Shark ION is fitted with two side brushes unlike the Roomba which only has one- you get twice the sweeping power with the Shark. The ECOVACS does have two side brushes but these get tangled often. Shark has designed the brushes with two shorter strands and one longer strand to stop the bristles from getting tangled.
The Shark robot vacuum is supplied with magnetic tape which is a first for me. I’m used to seeing virtual wall barriers, but I actually found the tape to be very useful to cordon off areas that I didn’t want the robot to go, such as underneath my television cabinet where the majority of my electric cables reside, I call it the land of no return because countless robots have ventured there, got stuck and needed rescuing.
You might need to buy some extra tape depending on the size of your house and the number of areas that you need to set boundaries.
Using the Mobile App to control Shark ION
The Shark app is available via a free download and gives you full access to the robot’s features and customizing a cleaning schedule. Once connected to your home’s Wi-Fi you can control the robot remotely and check on its progress whenever required. Linking the robot to Wi-Fi might take a few attempts but once linked it works flawlessly.
The app is a very handy tool as it provides you with notifications about the robot’s status and it will send you an alert if the robot gets into trouble and needs your assistance, the app will tell you what exactly is wrong with the machine.
Shark ION Battery Performance
The high-grade lithium-ion battery runs for 60 minutes and when the power begins to fade the robot will return to its base to recharge. Unlike other robots, I’m yet to find the robot running out of charge before making it back to the dock. The battery life was sufficient for the robot to clean 3 large rooms on our ground floor.

If you are considering getting a robot vacuum cleaner, Shark ION is a great place to start to help with the upkeep of your floors. Most people avoid robot vacuums because they can be costly, but with the Shark robot you get all the best benefits of automated cleaning at a low cost. It isn’t unusual to come across robots that cost in excess of $700.
Shark ION 750 is the latest addition to the brands line up and it doesn’t disappoint. I’ve tested several robot cleaners in the $300-$400 price range but most of them don’t meet up to the cleaning standards of this machine. The impressive performance matches up to the Roomba robot which is in a higher price bracket.
How Does Shark ION cope with Pet Hair?
The robot has no issues picking up the copious amounts of pet hair left behind by my dog. I was impressed to get back home after a long day at work to find spotless floors with no traces of animal hair. Just wait until you empty the bin and you’ll be surprised with the amount of hair and dirt it collects.

The Shark ION 750 is a reliable cleaner and it houses a host of features which are normally found on machines that cost more than twice the price. The Shark Robot provides plenty of conveniences and takes away the stress of regular floor cleaning. It has received lots of positive customer feedback and strong ratings.
The Shark robot vacuum cleaner is affordable and dependable. It delivers high cleaning performance that is normally associated with premium machines in the higher price bracket. It is on par with the likes of Roomba but costs a fraction of the price. Personally, I found that it outperformed the ECOVACS robot and I like that magnetic tape is provided to set out boundaries for areas which you don’t want the Shark to go.
The Shark ION is a solid investment, I’d highly recommend it for anybody wanting to reclaim the time that it takes to maintain clean floors on a regular basis. It won’t completely replace the need of a full-sized vacuum cleaner but it massively reduces the frequency that you need to use one. Shark has provided a superior robot vacuum that is affordable and reliable.

It’s incredibly easy to customise the robot to vacuum on a schedule that best suits you. Use the app to set the most convenient time and days you would like the machine to clean, it can clean whilst you’re out working or at night whilst you’re sleeping.

Whether you’ve got an existing Samsung account or you need to set up a new one, linking the R7070 to your account is straightforward. Simply download the app to your phone, log into or set up your account and add the robot to your profile. The instructions are easy to follow and begin by pressing and holding the “Clock” button on the supplied remote then go through the guide within the phone app.
POWERbot Pros:
The suction power is incredible given that the robot is so small. It won’t fully replace your full-sized vacuum but there’s lots of power to keep your floors cleaned regularly.
If you don’t believe that the POWERbot can pick up a lot of dirt wait until you empty the dirt bin. It catches everything from pet hair to tiny dust particles.
The filter and dirt bin can be washed thus reducing the cost of maintenance.
The Samsung POWERbot is careful and delicate with your furniture. Unlike other robots it won’t damage or scuff your furnishings.
It is a champion at vacuuming my rugs. The big wheels help the machine a great deal to navigate onto raised rugs and carpets. The machine will then turn up the suction on carpeted areas and rugs.
The POWERbot’s noise levels are low enough for the robot to vacuum without interrupting you whilst you’re in the same room. It is not as loud as a full-sized vacuum cleaner.
POWERbot Cons:
The charging station is quite big and can be difficult to find a suitable place for it if you’re limited on space. It would also be nice if it had cable management on-board.
The robot occasionally uses inefficient routes and there are times where it nearly never made it back to the charging station to recharge.
Preparing your Home To Be Robot-Friendly
I’ve tested quite a few robot vacuum cleaners and almost all of them get stuck in cluttered rooms and waste battery trying to set themselves free. I recommend that you prepare your home to be as clutter-free as possible, whichever robot you decide to buy. In this case, the POWERbot R7070 doesn’t require as much room preparation as other robots but it still requires an area that is relatively free from clutter.
Connecting Remotely to POWERbot
Despite a few complaints about the Samsung app, I found it easy and trouble-free to use. I already had an existing Samsung SmartThings account that I set up for my Smart TV and it was great to see that it seamlessly integrated with the POWERbot.
The Alexa voice prompts are hit and miss but I only use them if I need the robot to perform a random clean in addition to the daily schedule that I’ve set up for it.
You can connect to the Samsung robot in various ways so the Alexa issue is minor. If you experience any sort of issues controlling the robot with your Amazon Echo device, I’d recommend getting in touch with the Amazon support team who are very helpful.

Brilliant cleaning on multiple surfaces especially carpets and rugs score the POWERbot high marks. If you want to save yourself the time it takes to vacuum, the Samsung R7070 is a great addition to your home.
Is R7070 the best Samsung POWERbot robot vacuum cleaner? Yes, it is. I highly recommend this robot because it provides uninterrupted suction power to deal with the biggest annoyances of dirty floors including stubborn dirt and animal hair. Once you buy a POWERbot you’ll wonder how you lived without it.
I like the Samsung robot because it maintains a high level of cleanliness and my floors are thankful for this. It gets rid of allergens in the air and I’ve noticed that I don’t get as much irritation from dust allergies. If the robot gets into trouble it will stop immediately (to avoid damage) and alert you through the app, it will tell you what is wrong with it.
You will save a lot of time with the POWERbot and you’ll only need to bring out your full-sized vacuum cleaner for areas the robot can’t reach, like stairs and tight gaps, but that’s still better than vacuuming the entire house.
